Markets
The market segments you can access on the DSE.
The DSE operates several market segments so that companies of different sizes and instruments of different types can list and trade under appropriate rules. As an investor you can access all of them through a single CDS account and your broker.
Market segments
Main Investment Market (MIMS)
The primary board for established companies that meet the DSE's full listing requirements — including size, track record, and public float thresholds.
Enterprise Growth Market (EGM)
A market tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises seeking capital, with lighter listing requirements than the main market.
Bond market
Government (Treasury) and corporate bonds trade here, offering fixed-income exposure with periodic coupon payments. See the products page.
Exchange-traded instruments
Additional listed instruments — such as rights issues and other corporate-action securities — trade on the exchange as they are issued.
Indices
Market performance is tracked by benchmark indices, including the DSE All Share Index (DSEI), which covers all listed equities, and the Tanzania Share Index (TSI), which covers domestic listed companies. These indices help you gauge overall market direction.
Trading hours
The equity market runs a continuous trading session on business days (Monday to Friday), excluding public holidays, in East Africa Time (EAT). Exact opening and closing times and any auction windows are published by the exchange and may change — your broker and the live market view show current status.
