About the DSE
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange — Tanzania's national securities market.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange PLC (DSE) is the principal securities exchange of the United Republic of Tanzania. Incorporated in 1996, it became operational in 1998 when TOL Gases Limited became its first listed company. Today the DSE lists 28 companies — 22 domestic and 6 cross-listed — alongside an active bond market, providing a regulated marketplace where investors buy and sell shares, government and corporate bonds, and other listed securities. The DSE has since demutualised and self-listed, and its own shares now trade under the ticker DSE.
Our mission is to create opportunity — connecting Tanzanian savers and businesses to capital markets that fund growth, and giving investors a transparent, well-regulated place to build long-term wealth.

What we do
Operate the market
We run the trading, clearing, and settlement infrastructure that lets orders match fairly and settle on a T+2 basis through the Central Depository System (CDS).
List companies & bonds
We admit equities, Treasury bonds with maturities ranging from 2 to 25 years, corporate bonds, and other instruments to listing, helping issuers raise capital and giving investors more choice.
Protect investors
We enforce listing and trading rules under the oversight of the Capital Markets and Securities Authority (CMSA) to keep the market orderly and transparent.
Broaden access
Through this investor portal and licensed brokers, we make it easier for individual Tanzanians and the diaspora to participate in the market.
Governance & regulation
The DSE is licensed and supervised by the Capital Markets and Securities Authority (CMSA), the statutory regulator established under the Capital Markets and Securities Act. The exchange operates the Central Securities Depository and is governed by a board of directors and rules approved by the CMSA.
