How it works

From opening an account to settling your first trade — six simple steps.

1

Open a CDS account

Register on the investor portal and set up a Central Depository System (CDS) account through a licensed broker. Your CDS account holds the securities you own — you can link an existing account or request a new one.

2

Complete verification

Provide your NIDA details and required KYC information. Verification protects your account and satisfies regulatory requirements before you can trade.

3

Place an order

Browse listed shares and bonds, choose a security, and place a buy order at market or a limit price. Your broker submits the order to the exchange on your behalf.

4

Pay via GePG

For buy orders you receive a GePG control number. Pay it using mobile money push, bank transfer, or card before the deadline to confirm your order.

5

Settlement (T+2)

Once your order matches, shares are credited to your CDS account two business days after the trade date. You can then view them in your portfolio.

6

Manage & sell

Track your holdings, receive dividends directly to your linked bank account, and place sell orders whenever you choose.

Good to know

You always trade through a broker. The DSE does not accept orders directly from retail investors — a licensed stockbroker submits every order. This portal connects you to that process.

Settlement is T+2. Shares and funds change hands two business days after a trade executes.

Fees apply per transaction. Brokerage, exchange, and regulatory fees are deducted automatically from each trade.
